Mission
Choreographers Group, founded by Perla Joy Furr in 1996, was created to foster a sense of community among artists by establishing a forum for pre-professional and professional dancers to perform together in an atmosphere of mutual sharing of dance knowledge. Choreographers Group strives to promote appreciation for choreography, evolution, performance and study of contemporary modern dance by developing emerging pre-professional artists, dance enthusiasts and loyal audiences.

History
Choreographers Group has increased public awareness of the art of choreography by continuously presenting premiere or original works by gifted regional choreographers. Since 1996, Choreographers Group has presented 96 world premieres to greater Boston and New York City audiences !

The Artistic Director
Perla Joy Furr has performed and designed dance for over three decades. Ms. Furr has extensive experience in Grahm, Humphrey, Limon and Cunningham modern dance techniques. Ms. Furr's talents include extensive knowledge and background with outstanding teaching skills, augmented by her extraordinary ability to inspire performers to exhibit their ultimate performing skills and stage presence. She studied with and has been inspired by Mimi Kim Kagen, Bill Evans, Trisha Brown, Kei Takei and Chris Komar. In 1975, Ms. Furr became artistic director and founder of modern dance company, PJF &Co., Vibrato Arts Center and most recently founder and director/producer of the Choreographers Group, since 1996. She has taught at Harvard University, Boston Repertory, The Studio, Green Street Studios and The Dance Complex. She has been commissioned to present her work by Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street Collective, Dover Foundation, WNAC and WGBH-TV. Furr's work has also been performed at Dancespace Project at St. Mark's Church, New York City, Tower Auditorium, the Dance Complex, Green Street Studios, Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, Babson College, Dance Umbrella and the Dance Space at Concord Academy. She has been a guest artist of Boston College and Brandeis University. Ms. Furr's work is currently presented nationally.
