The Choreographers Group Youth Ensemble was formed in September 2005 to recognize gifted emerging pre-professional dancers. Ms. Furr believes the future of dance rests with passionate young artists.
The Boston Globe writes, "Furr's 'Side by Side', an abstract work of slowly shifting patterns and graceful suspensions, featured an expressive sextet of young student dancers. All posessed a lovely sense of tension/ release and displayed notable presence and attention to detail - the focus of the face, the timing of an arm arcing through space, the position of hands and feet to finish a shape. Furr has taught them well."
CGYE has performed at Cambridge Dance Distraction's Charles Hotel and Brattle Square Cambridge, Sorenson Center for the Arts, Congress of Lakes and Ponds, Keefe Technical Theater, Youth America Grand Prix and other venues.
Some of Ms. Furr's dancers have received offers to study at conservatories at the Orlando Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, North Carolina School of Performing Arts, The Ailey School, Limon Institute, University of Michigan, LINES Ballet School, Paul Taylor School and The Hartt School.
"Ms. Furr has the instinct, inspiration and knowledge to actually communicate the reverance and creative passion she has for the art form of modern dance. Her students demonstrate a true understanding of physical commitment and dynamic that is all too rare in young people today."
